The Chhattisgarh High Court commemorated its silver jubilee with a ceremony that underscored the importance of accessible justice. Governor Rameen Deka stated that a court’s significance in a democratic setup is realized when justice is easily available to all, including those in rural areas and underprivileged communities. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai assured that the government is dedicated to ensuring timely justice, supported by adequate infrastructure and resources. A commemorative souvenir was unveiled during the event. The silver jubilee celebrations were inaugurated with a lamp-lighting ceremony. The Governor and Chief Minister were honored with tokens of appreciation by the High Court judges, including plants and souvenirs. The event was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma, along with other ministers and former officials.
Governor Deka expressed his honor in addressing the event, highlighting the court’s establishment in 2000, coinciding with the formation of Chhattisgarh as a new state. He noted the High Court’s role as a protector of civil rights and a guardian of justice, and praised the court’s efforts in expediting cases through Lok Adalat. He stressed the importance of reducing case backlogs for providing swift justice to the public.
Chief Minister Sai extended his congratulations on the dual silver jubilee celebrations of both the state and the High Court. He also paid respects to Atal Bihari Vajpayee, acknowledging his pivotal role in the state’s establishment. The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to timely justice, citing increased budgetary support to the Law and Legislative Department. He also spoke about the growing interest in law careers among the youth. He mentioned Prime Minister Modi’s efforts in modernizing the legal system, including the introduction of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the inclusion of forensic science. Justice JK Maheshwari of the Supreme Court emphasized the significance of justice and dharma, calling for future planning. Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu recognized the court’s role in upholding democracy and the constitution. Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha delivered the welcome address, highlighting the High Court’s accomplishments. The event saw the presence of numerous dignitaries, including judges, advocates, and government officials.
