At the Chhattisgarh Olympic Association’s annual general meeting in Raipur, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai unveiled significant support for the state’s athletes. The meeting, held at the Circuit House, covered key topics such as the 2024-25 audit report, the 2025-26 budget, and the appointment of auditors.
CM Sai highlighted the abundance of sports talent within Chhattisgarh, with the government committed to fostering these talents. Initiatives include the revival of the sports awards ceremony and plans for an outstanding player honor ceremony. Sai also pointed out the establishment of new Khelo India complexes in the state, following discussions with the Union Sports Minister about expanding sports infrastructure. A key focus is to motivate athletes for the Olympics, with financial rewards announced: three crore rupees for gold medal winners, two crore rupees for silver medal winners, and one crore rupees for bronze medal winners.
The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s aim to increase the sports budget and encourage corporate sector involvement. He also noted the proposal for India to host the 2036 Olympic Games, with Ahmedabad as the proposed city, indicating the central government’s focus on strengthening India’s sports infrastructure. Sai called for similar efforts in Chhattisgarh to host national-level sporting events.
Cabinet Minister Kedar Kashyap, also the Vice President of the association, spoke at the event. The meeting also included the reading of the secretary’s report by General Secretary Vikram Sisodia. Other attendees included Vice Presidents Himanshu Dwivedi and Gajraj Pagaria, Treasurer Sanjay Mishra, and other officials and members affiliated with sports associations.
