The Chief Minister, Vishnu Deo Sai, will participate in Swachhta Sangam-2025, hosted in Bilaspur district on August 12, 2025, where he will honor sanitation workers from Chhattisgarh, who have achieved national recognition, by a special ceremony. During the event, the Chief Minister will also acknowledge the outstanding performance of urban bodies in the Swachh Survekshan-2024-25.
The Swachhta Sangam will bring together mayors, chairpersons, and health department representatives from all the municipal corporations, presidents, vice-presidents, health department representatives from municipalities, corporation commissioners, chief municipal officers, senior engineers of urban bodies, along with the nodal officers of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban). A total of nine thousand sanitation workers have been invited to the event.
The objective of the Swachhta Sangam is to enhance the cleanliness and beauty of cities. Dr. Basavaraju S., the Secretary of the Department of Urban Administration and Development, stated that the event aims to honor sanitation workers who have significantly contributed to making cities clean and beautiful. The event will also recognize seven urban bodies that excelled in the Swachh Survekshan 2024-25, with awards presented by President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi. Furthermore, more than 30 urban bodies that have shown excellent performance at the division level will also be recognized.
To foster better cleanliness and urban aesthetics, a state-level competition will be launched at the Swachhta Sangam. This initiative will promote cleanliness, enhance administrative efficiency, and encourage beautification efforts within urban areas. It will not only help in making cities more attractive but also enrich the quality of life for residents. The competition is designed to inspire representatives, officials, and citizens of each urban body to improve their efforts in urban cleanliness and beautification.
In a move toward modernization, the program will also include the launch of a GIS-based property tax live portal for online tax payments across three municipal corporations—Birgaon, Bhilai-Charoda, and Dhamtari—and 43 municipalities.
