Chhattisgarh security forces have successfully neutralized six Naxalites in a significant encounter in Bijapur district. The operation commenced early Tuesday morning in the dense forests of Indravati National Park, following specific intelligence about the presence of key Maoist cadres. A joint team comprising the Bijapur and Dantewada DRG and the STF engaged with the insurgents, leading to an intense firefight that lasted for hours. Authorities recovered the bodies of the six deceased Naxalites, along with a cache of automatic weapons, including an INSAS rifle, sten guns, a .303 rifle, and explosives. Additional security units, such as the Bastar Fighters, CRPF, and Chhattisgarh Armed Force, were mobilized to reinforce the cordon and apprehend any remaining Naxalite members. The Chief Minister commended the forces for their bravery and stated that this operation is a crucial advancement in the state’s fight against Maoist extremism. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completely eliminate Naxalism by March 2026. Separately, security forces apprehended an injured Naxalite in another encounter in the Tarlaguda area, who is now receiving medical treatment. The cumulative number of Naxalites killed in Chhattisgarh this year has reached 259.
