In a major step forward for healthcare, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai launched the ‘Dev Hast’ robotic surgical system at AIIMS Raipur, located in Tatibandh. The Chief Minister described this as a transformative moment, signaling a new era of advanced medical care in Chhattisgarh. He emphasized that robotic surgery signifies a milestone in the state’s commitment to providing the latest and best treatments for its citizens.
During the inauguration, the Chief Minister also announced plans for a fully-equipped ‘Parivar Niwas’ at AIIMS Raipur, which will serve as lodging for the families of patients admitted from both Chhattisgarh and other states. He spoke of the significance of doctors as lifesavers and the importance of the ‘Dev Hast’ system, emphasizing its benefits for not just the state, but also for patients coming from across the country seeking treatment at AIIMS Raipur. The institution is consistently achieving excellence in providing superior medical care.
The Chief Minister recounted his personal involvement in the establishment of AIIMS Raipur, advocating for it during his time as a Member of Parliament to reduce the patient load on the AIIMS in Delhi and to make quality healthcare accessible to people in their own regions. He shared his deep understanding of the need for accommodation facilities for patients’ families, drawing from his own experience when his Delhi residence was known as ‘Mini AIIMS.’ The government has also approved five new medical colleges in the past 20 months and is constructing a 5,000-bed Medicity in Nava Raipur. Currently, Chhattisgarh boasts 15 medical colleges, a significant increase from just one at the time of its formation.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal discussed the evolving healthcare landscape, highlighting the increasing prevalence of diseases alongside advancements in medical facilities. He stressed the importance of robotic surgery in modern medicine, emphasizing its potential to drastically improve medical capabilities and the overall quality of care. A prize was awarded to Jyotsna Kiradu for winning the naming competition for ‘Dev Hast’. The event included the presence of AIIMS Raipur’s leadership and other dignitaries.
