The process of rationalization in Chhattisgarh’s education sector has led to substantial improvements in the state’s educational landscape. Before the implementation of this process, 453 schools were operating without any teachers. Following the rationalization, every school in the state now has at least one teacher.
A further positive outcome has been the posting of teachers in 4728 schools out of a total of 5936 single-teacher schools. This initiative is a major step in enhancing the quality of education, ensuring that students receive better instruction.
Teacher shortages persist in certain districts within the Bastar and Surguja divisions, resulting in approximately 1208 schools still being single-teacher institutions. Plans are underway to address these shortages through the promotion of headmasters and lecturers, along with the direct recruitment of around 5000 teachers. The goal is to eliminate single-teacher schools and fulfill staffing needs in other areas where shortages exist.
This rationalization initiative was carried out in accordance with the Right to Education Act-2009 and the National Education Policy-2020. The earlier structure of 2008 has become obsolete at the primary and upper primary levels. Disciplinary actions have been enforced against officials and employees found involved in any irregularities.
