A yellow alert is currently active for 18 districts across Chhattisgarh. Raipur witnessed rainfall from the evening of Friday until the early hours of Saturday, accompanied by further showers throughout the day. Over the last day, light to moderate rainfall was observed across the majority of the state’s divisions, with Bijapur experiencing the most significant rainfall at 56 mm. The Meteorological Department attributes this weather to an atmospheric circulation developing over the Bay of Bengal, predicting similar conditions for the coming two days.
The districts under the yellow alert are Raipur, Surguja, GPM, Korba, Dhamtari, Kondagaon, Gariaband, Bijapur, and Bastar, where thunderstorms, lightning strikes, and strong winds are probable.
In a distressing incident, three members of a family in the Takhatpur region of Bilaspur were struck by lightning. One fatality was recorded, while two individuals sustained injuries. The injured are receiving care at SIMS Hospital, and their condition is reported as critical.
