The monsoon has re-activated in Chhattisgarh, bringing with it the prospect of significant rainfall. The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast predicting light to moderate rainfall across the central and southern regions of the state for the next five days. This change in weather patterns is attributed to the presence of a monsoon trough and cyclonic circulation.
The Sarguja division is specifically under a warning for moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms. Over the past 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall was observed across various divisions of the state. Rajnandgaon recorded the highest temperature at 33.5 degrees Celsius, while Durg experienced the lowest at 20.6 degrees Celsius.
Raipur, the state capital, is also expected to experience a shift in weather conditions. The day is predicted to be overcast with the potential for rain and thunderstorms. The maximum temperature is anticipated to be around 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum hovers around 26 degrees Celsius.
A yellow alert has been issued across several districts, including Sukma, Bijapur, Dantewada, Bastar, Narayanpur, Kondagaon, Kanker, Dhamtari, Balod, Rajnandgaon, Gariaband, Mahasamund, Raipur, Baloda Bazar, Janjgir-Champa, Raigarh, Bilaspur, Korba, Jashpur, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, Durg, Bemetara, Kabirdham, Mungeli, Sarguja, Surajpur, Korea, and Balrampur, anticipating light to moderate rainfall.
The monsoon trough, currently extending from Sriganganagar to the northeast Bay of Bengal, and a cyclonic circulation over eastern Uttar Pradesh are the primary drivers of this weather pattern. This will intensify rainfall across Chhattisgarh in the coming days. The impending rainfall offers a welcome reprieve for both the agricultural community and the general population, who have been awaiting the arrival of the monsoon. Residents in areas expecting heavy downpours are advised to exercise caution.
