Chhattisgarh’s government has altered the structure of its half-electricity bill scheme. Instead of a discount on up to 400 units monthly, the revised plan offers a 50% discount for consumption up to 100 units per month. The government clarifies that about 31 lakh households, which make up nearly 70% of the 45 lakh domestic consumers in the state, use less than 100 units of electricity each month.
The government maintains that these 31 lakh families, comprising both general and economically disadvantaged groups, will continue to enjoy the benefits of the scheme as they did previously. Roughly 70% of domestic consumers throughout the state will experience no change in their benefits from the half-electricity bill scheme. The state government remains dedicated to lessening the electricity expenses of low-income families.
