The Telecom Advisory Committee convened in Raipur, with Brijmohan Agrawal, the local MP and a prominent BJP figure, presiding over the meeting. The agenda included a comprehensive review of BSNL’s existing services, future strategies, and plans for network enhancement. MP Agrawal directed BSNL officials to maintain high service standards and underscored the importance of bolstering network infrastructure in rural and remote locations, alongside urban areas.
During the meeting, Agrawal urged the prioritization of BSNL services within government bodies and called for the swift deployment of 5G technology. He further suggested that BSNL should enhance its marketing efforts to boost the visibility and uptake of its products and services.
T. K. Markam, BSNL’s Principal General Manager (Commercial Area Raipur), presented details about BSNL’s 4G services, network expansion initiatives, and other projects. He mentioned that BSNL has introduced 4G services in Naxal-affected villages where other service providers have not established a presence. Additionally, over 700 schools are now connected via fiber under the Samagra Shiksha Yojana.
Markam also highlighted the government’s Extended BharatNet scheme, which aims to establish 1.5 crore Bharat Fiber connections across the country. He acknowledged the support extended by MP Agrawal towards this initiative. The meeting was attended by other members of the Telecom Advisory Committee and senior BSNL officials.
