Six Naxalites have been killed in a fierce gun battle with security forces in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. The encounter commenced at approximately 10 AM in the Indravati National Park region, where a joint security team was conducting an anti-Maoist operation based on credible information about senior cadres being present. Police officials confirmed the casualties among the Naxalites.
The operation involved personnel from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) of Bijapur and Dantewada, alongside the Special Task Force (STF). The exchange of fire persisted for several hours. A subsequent search of the area where the confrontation took place led to the discovery of six deceased Maoists. They were armed with automatic weapons, including an INSAS rifle, sten guns, a .303 rifle, and also carried explosives.
Reinforcements from various units, including the DRG, STF, Bastar Fighters, CRPF, and CAF, were mobilized to establish a cordon and apprehend any remaining Naxalites.
