A police constable was attacked with a sharp weapon in a public marketplace in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, leading to an immediate response from local law enforcement. The assault, which occurred in broad daylight, has raised concerns about security in the region.
The attack took place in the market area of Padeda village, within the Bijapur police station’s purview. Constable Santu Potam was targeted by unknown attackers while he was in the marketplace. The assault resulted in severe injuries to the constable. Police were notified promptly by local witnesses and arrived at the scene shortly thereafter.
Emergency medical services transported the injured constable to the district hospital in Bijapur, where he is currently receiving treatment. Medical professionals have indicated that his condition is currently stable.
