Chhattisgarh film actress Jyotsna Tamrakar was the victim of a brazen robbery attempt while traveling on a train from Rewa to Bilaspur. The incident, which occurred on the Rewa-Bilaspur Express (Train No. 18248), was detailed by the actress in a video shared online.
In the video, Tamrakar described traveling on the train on the night of June 19th. The train stopped outside Katni railway station around 2 AM. After leaving Katni, the train stopped at an outer signal a few kilometers away. During this stop, an individual attempted to steal her purse and phone through the window. When the attempt failed, she was punched in the face. After the train restarted, it was discovered that other passengers in coaches S1 to S5 were also robbed, causing widespread fear among the passengers. Although she reached Bilaspur station, Tamrakar did not receive immediate help from the RPF or GRP.
She reported the incident using railway helpline number 139. Despite reporting the robbery, she received no immediate assistance. After an hour of waiting at Bilaspur station, the actress criticized the absence of RPF and GRP personnel, who are usually responsible for security. This allowed the criminals to escape.
According to the actress, thefts also occurred in other compartments of the train, suggesting a coordinated operation. She promptly reported the incident via the railway helpline and lamented the lack of immediate police response. She has called upon the authorities to take the matter seriously and take strong action. The event raises serious questions about railway security.
GRP station in-charge L.P. Kashyap stated that they received the information through social media and are gathering all information before action is taken. Bilaspur GRP in-charge D.N. Srivastava mentioned that he contacted the actress, and she had indicated that she had arrived in Raipur and would file an FIR there.
