Union Home Minister Amit Shah lauded the officers who played key roles in recent anti-Naxal operations during a meeting in New Delhi. He acknowledged the historic success of these operations, underscoring the Modi government’s resolve to eliminate Naxalism. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were in attendance.
Shah, in a post on X, expressed his desire to meet the soldiers who contributed to the success of these operations and his plan to visit Chhattisgarh soon. The operations were conducted under his guidance by security forces in Chhattisgarh. A significant operation from May 18 to 21, 2025, involved the Chhattisgarh Police, including DRG forces from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur, resulting in an encounter in the Boter forests on May 21, 2025. This led to the death of 27 Naxals, including CPI (Maoist) General Secretary and Politburo member Basavaraju (Gaganna), and the seizure of a large cache of weapons and ammunition.
Among those honored by Amit Shah were Chhattisgarh’s Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations/SIB/STF) Vivekananda, Inspector General of Police of Bastar Range Sundarraj, Superintendents of Police Prabhat Kumar (Narayanpur), Jitendra Yadav (Bijapur), and Shalabh Singh (Naxal-free district Bastar). Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, and other senior officials were also present.
