Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with officials in New Delhi to commend the success of recent anti-Naxal operations. He emphasized the Modi government’s resolve to eliminate Naxalism from India. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma also attended the meeting.
Shah, in a post on the social media platform X, praised the officers involved and looked forward to meeting the soldiers who contributed to the operations’ success, with a planned visit to Chhattisgarh. The anti-Maoist operations in Chhattisgarh, led by the Home Minister, involved significant action in the interior areas of Abujhmad. A key operation, conducted by Chhattisgarh Police forces, including district DRG units, took place from May 18-21, 2025. On May 21, 2025, an encounter in the Boter village forests resulted in the death of 27 Naxals, including CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Basavaraju alias Gagganna, along with the recovery of a large cache of weapons.
Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police Vivekanand, Inspector General of Police Sundarraj, SPs Prabhat Kumar, Jitendra Yadav, and Shalabh Singh were among those recognized by Amit Shah. The event was also attended by senior officials including Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka.
