In New Delhi, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah honored officers for their pivotal roles in the recent anti-Naxal operations. Shah acknowledged the historic success of these operations and reiterated the Modi government’s resolve to eliminate Naxalism. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were in attendance.
The Home Minister, through a post on X, praised the officers and announced his forthcoming visit to Chhattisgarh to meet the soldiers who played key roles in these successful operations. The anti-Maoist operations were carried out under the guidance of the Union Home and Cooperation Minister. A key operation was conducted by the Chhattisgarh Police, including DRG forces, in the remote areas of Abujhmad from May 18 to May 21, 2025. This resulted in a fierce encounter on May 21, 2025, in the forests of village Boter, where 27 Naxals were killed, including the CPI (Maoist) General Secretary and Politburo member Baswaraju (Gaganna). A large cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered. DGP Arun Dev Gautam, ADG Vivekananda, IG Sundarraj, SP Prabhat Kumar, SP Jitendra Yadav, and SP Shalabh Singh were recognized by Amit Shah. The event was also attended by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka and other high-ranking officials.
