Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with officers in New Delhi to commend their roles in the successful anti-Naxal operations. He highlighted the Modi government’s resolve to eliminate Naxalism from India. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were in attendance.
In a post on X, Shah praised the officers and expressed his eagerness to meet the soldiers who ensured the success of these operations, with a planned visit to Chhattisgarh.
The anti-Maoist operations, conducted under the direction of the Union Home and Cooperation Minister, involved the Chhattisgarh Police. A significant operation in the internal areas of Abujhmar, from May 18-21, 2025, saw an encounter on May 21, 2025, in the forests of village Boter, leading to the death of 27 Naxals, including CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Baswaraju alias Gaganna, with the recovery of substantial arms and ammunition.
Those honored included Chhattisgarh’s Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations/SIB/STF) Vivekanand, Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundarraj, Superintendent of Police of Narayanpur Prabhat Kumar, Superintendent of Police of Bijapur Jitendra Yadav, and Superintendent of Police of Bastar Shalabh Singh. The event was attended by key officials like Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka.
