Special efforts are being made for the respect, prosperity and empowerment of weavers in the state – Chief Minister
Raipur, August 07, 2025/ On the occasion of National Handloom Day, a delegation of the Chhattisgarh Weaver Society paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai at the Chief Minister’s residence office in Raipur.
Chief Minister Shri Sai warmly welcomed all the representatives and extended his best wishes to them on National Handloom Day. Appreciating the weaver community, the Chief Minister said that handloom art is our rich heritage, which gives a unique identity to the state and strengthens our cultural identity.
The Chief Minister said that the weaver community of Chhattisgarh is enhancing the pride of the state through their labor, skill and creativity.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the state government is making multi-faceted efforts for the prosperity, empowerment and self-reliance of weavers. Effective implementation of schemes is being done on every front, from making raw materials available to reducing costs and providing better marketing facilities. He said that the self-reliance of the weavers can give new heights to their creative flight.
Referring to the mantra of “Vocal for Local” given by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister said that this is the time to promote our traditional products and skills. The handloom industry is not only a means of livelihood, but also a living symbol of cultural consciousness, which the weaver community still preserves.
On this occasion, members of the society presented the Chief Minister with a replica of a loom (traditional machine for weaving cloth) made by the weavers. The Chief Minister said that this gift of yours is not only a symbol of your respect and feelings, but also a symbol of creation, tradition and the cultural values โโof our state.
Chief Minister Shri Sai assured that the Chhattisgarh government is fully committed to every possible cooperation to the weaver community and is giving top priority to their overall development. He said that the coming time will be of respect, prosperity and empowerment of the weavers.
On this occasion, National Vice President of the Weaver Society Shri Mahesh Dewangan, Shri Purushottam Dewangan, Shri Dhanesh Dewangan, Shri Gajendra Dewangan and other senior members were present.
