In Delhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with the officers instrumental in the recent anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh, offering his congratulations for their historical achievement. Shah reiterated the Modi government’s dedication to eliminating Naxalism from the country.
On Saturday, the Home Minister shared his appreciation for the courage displayed by the jawans and stated his intention to visit Chhattisgarh to meet them personally. The anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh have been conducted by security forces under the direction of the Union Home Minister.
A notable operation, involving the Chhattisgarh Police and DRG units from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur, was executed in the Abujhmad region from May 18 to May 21. This operation culminated in an encounter on May 21 in Boter village, where 27 Naxals were neutralized, including CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Basavaraju alias Gaganna. A significant amount of arms and ammunition was also seized.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah recognized the contributions of Chhattisgarh Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations/SIB/STF) Vivekanand, Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundarraj, and Superintendents of Police Prabhat Kumar, Jitendra Yadav, and Shalabh Singh. The event was attended by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sharma, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director of the Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, and other high-ranking officials.
