The Chamoli district in Uttarakhand is grappling with the aftermath of a severe cloudburst in the Dewal area. The incident has resulted in two people being reported missing, while several animals have been lost. The heavy downpour has forced the closure of roads throughout the district, according to Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari. Emergency response teams have been mobilized to the affected site.
A state of high alert has been declared, with warnings for intense rainfall in areas like Rudraprayag and Kedarnath. The administration has ordered the closure of schools in multiple districts as a precautionary measure. The Kedarnath motorway is currently inaccessible due to a bridge collapse.
