Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to recommend a CBI investigation into the disappearance of an Indore couple, Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam. The couple went missing in Shillong, Meghalaya, last month. Raja was later found dead, while Sonam remains missing.
In a social media post, the Chief Minister conveyed his support: “Madhya Pradesh stands with Sonam Raghuvanshi’s family during this crisis. I have discussed this matter with the Chief Minister of Meghalaya. Senior police officials from Madhya Pradesh are in constant touch with Meghalaya officials. I have requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to order a CBI inquiry in this case. Every possible effort is being made for Sonam Raghuvanshi’s safe return.”
The family had previously written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting a CBI investigation.
The couple was last seen on May 23. Raja’s remains were recovered from a gorge near Cherrapunji on June 2, and Sonam remains missing. The family last spoke with the couple on the afternoon of May 23 before their phones were switched off.
