In preparation for the Bihar assembly elections, the Election Commission held a meeting with various political parties at the Taj Hotel in Patna. The BJP used this platform to propose conducting the elections in two phases. The meeting, led by CEC Gynesh Kumar, saw the BJP state president present their case.
The BJP’s primary argument was that two-phase elections would be less disruptive for voters. They also pointed out the financial burden that prolonged elections place on candidates. Furthermore, the BJP has requested a 28-day gap between the election announcement and the polling dates.
The Election Commission had earlier invited all recognized national and state-level parties to the meeting. It is widely expected that the election dates will be revealed within the next week.
