Following a period of heavy rainfall, a resurgence of intense heat has been observed. Both the plains and mountainous regions of North India are currently experiencing discomfort due to the heat. The weather department suggests this heat will continue for some time. Hot and humid conditions persist from Delhi to Himachal Pradesh, while central India faces a different climate, with ongoing rainfall in Maharashtra and Gujarat.
In Delhi-NCR, a slight reprieve from the heat was felt on Saturday after a week of high temperatures. The forecast for today is mixed, with cloudy skies and continued warmth. Temperatures in Delhi-NCR today will range from 28 to 35 degrees Celsius, with a decrease at night. No rain is anticipated for the next four days, according to the weather department, so residents of Delhi will need to endure the heat.
In Uttar Pradesh, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in several districts on Sunday. Lightning may occur in specific areas. Light rain is also likely in these areas. Overcast skies are predicted for various other districts, and a shift to more widespread cloud cover is expected starting Monday.
Lucknow is predicted to have normal weather on Sunday, with a maximum temperature of approximately 34 degrees Celsius. The chance of rain in Lucknow from September 30 should bring more comfortable weather. Today, sunny conditions will also prevail in Ayodhya, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Kanpur, and Barabanki, with maximum temperatures in those districts reaching around 35 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in Noida is expected to be around 35 degrees Celsius today, while Ghaziabad will also experience similar weather.
Monsoon has withdrawn from Rajasthan, with the departure completed on September 26. Rain is possible in eastern, southeastern, and southern Rajasthan between September 28 and October 3. Western Rajasthan is forecast to have dry conditions for the next 4-5 days.
In Bihar, rain is expected to begin around October 2, with scattered showers possible. Today’s weather will be dry. The forecast for Patna, Gaya, Sitamarhi, Muzaffarpur, and other districts is dry. Temperatures are expected to rise by two to four degrees Celsius. Although the sun may bring some humidity, there won’t be any rain.
Himachal Pradesh is also experiencing the heat. Dry weather is expected until October 3, with little change in minimum temperatures. However, a gradual increase of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius is anticipated in the maximum temperatures over the next few days. The districts of Kangra, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Shimla, Solan, and Una are experiencing significant heat.
In Uttarakhand, the dry weather in the coming days will bring heat to the plains, as cloudy skies and light showers are expected in the hills. Rain is expected in five districts on Sunday. Light rain and thundershowers are anticipated in Chamoli, Bageshwar, Champawat, and Pithoragarh, while the remaining districts should expect dry weather. Today, Dehradun is forecast to have a mix of clear to partly cloudy skies, with a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 22 degrees Celsius.
Maharashtra and Other States
The IMD has issued a red alert for heavy rainfall in Gujarat, central Maharashtra, Goa, and Konkan through September 29. An orange alert is in effect for rain in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra. Palghar district has a red alert for September 28 and 29 due to the potential for excessive rainfall. The administration has instructed all departments to be vigilant. Mumbai has a red alert for rain, with heavy rainfall predicted for Sunday. The BMC has advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel on Sunday, September 28, and to only go out if essential. Heavy rain is also predicted for many areas on September 29.
