Ahead of the Bihar assembly elections, the political landscape is witnessing significant activity. Political parties are busy solidifying their strategies and forming alliances. The ruling NDA is organizing workers’ conferences across various districts. However, these conferences have been frequently disrupted by incidents. A recent NDA workers’ conference in Muzaffarpur saw a major disturbance. Supporters of Janata Dal United (JDU) leader Prabhat Kiran and former Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) candidate Komal Singh clashed, resulting in a physical fight, the throwing of chairs, and multiple injuries.
The conference was held on Thursday at Jarang High School in the Gaighat block of Muzaffarpur. The gathering was disrupted by a clash between supporters of the JDU and LJP. The conflict involved supporters of Janata Dal United (JDU) leader Prabhat Kiran and former Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) candidate Komal Singh, with Prabhat Kiran being the son of former JDU MLA Maheshwar Yadav.
The dispute escalated into a physical altercation. Both sides engaged in a heated fight, and chairs were thrown. The supporters started throwing chairs at each other, leading to the breaking of several chairs. The violent clash caused injuries to at least 12 people.
The chaos reportedly began when a leader made offensive remarks from the stage, provoking the workers present. Enraged workers started throwing chairs and then breaking them, causing widespread disorder at the conference.
Following the incident, the workers at the conference began shouting slogans such as “Remove outsiders, save Gaighat,” heightening the tension. The angry workers then started breaking chairs. The use of chairs as weapons led to people fleeing the school premises.
The police present at the scene attempted to manage the situation. Leaders on the stage also tried to calm the workers, but the sloganeering continued, resulting in the disruption of the conference.
This isn’t the first time an NDA workers’ conference has been disrupted. On September 21, a similar incident occurred at a conference in Darbhanga district, where a dispute arose due to the perceived neglect of JDU workers by former BJP district president Vinay Paswan. Before that, a conference in Jamui was also disrupted by a physical altercation between a minister and a former MLC.
