A vigilance team in Khagaria, Bihar, arrested a female ASI and a watchman for accepting a bribe. The arrest was made after the ASI demanded a sum of money from a complainant in order to expedite a case and file a charge sheet. After receiving the complaint, the vigilance team formulated a plan and apprehended the two individuals involved.
The case involved a bank loan, and the complainant, Anil Kumar Shah’s wife, had filed it at the Sadar police station. ASI Seema Kumari was the investigating officer. The ASI initially demanded 10,000 rupees, later increasing it to 20,000 rupees, for the investigation and filing of the charge sheet. Watchman Veeru Paswan was also involved in the bribery. Mamta Devi, the victim, informed her husband, Anil Shah, about the bribe demand.
