A dispute has emerged in a government school in Begusarai, Bihar, regarding the teaching of Urdu. The Urdu teacher has alleged that the principal and other staff members are obstructing his efforts to teach Urdu and are mistreating him. Students and their parents have filed a complaint with the District Education Officer against the principal and other teachers. The District Education Officer has promised to personally investigate the situation. The school at the heart of the matter is the Rajkiya Madhya Vidyalaya Pahasara Bhaban Gama in the Navkothi block of Begusarai. Mohammad Aavid was selected and appointed as an Urdu teacher through the BPSC TRE-3 process. Upon his posting, Aavid requested to teach Urdu to Muslim students. But, the principal and other teachers refused to allocate separate classes for Urdu. Aavid has insisted on teaching Urdu, citing his appointment as an Urdu teacher, which led to a disagreement. The teacher alleges that he was appointed on May 15th and faced inhumane behavior from the principal on June 27th for requesting to teach Urdu. He has filed written complaints to multiple authorities. When the education department sought an explanation from the principal based on the teacher’s complaint, the principal allegedly retaliated by threatening to remove students’ names from the school rolls. Despite teaching for eight hours a day, the teacher has not been allowed to conduct any Urdu classes. He is calling for a fair investigation. Students and parents claim they were coerced into signing documents under threat of having their names removed from the rolls. They want to study Urdu. The District Education Officer has met with the concerned parties and will conduct a personal investigation.
