A convoy carrying RJD leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav was struck by a truck in Vaishali district on Saturday morning. The incident occurred near Goraul as Yadav was en route to Patna from Madhepura following a political rally.
The convoy had stopped for a brief rest and tea break on the Patna-Muzaffarpur highway at approximately 12:30 AM. While Tejashwi Yadav was a few meters away, the truck crashed into the parked vehicles of his security personnel. Although the leader’s vehicle was not involved, three security officials were injured in the crash.
The injured officials were promptly taken to a local hospital. Tejashwi Yadav later visited the hospital to check on their condition. Reports indicate that the security personnel are now in stable condition, though they sustained bruises and minor fractures.
The truck driver was arrested at the scene, and the truck has been taken into custody. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident, with possibilities including speeding or driver fatigue. The event has brought to light the ongoing concerns about the safety of political figures during late-night travel on Bihar roads.
Following the incident, RJD members expressed their relief and gratitude on social media, while others called for improved road safety and better traffic rule enforcement. Party officials have requested a comprehensive review of the security measures for VIP convoys, particularly concerning travel during periods of low visibility and adherence to traffic regulations.
Tejashwi Yadav, known for his active political schedule and extensive travel throughout Bihar, has resumed his regular activities and reassured his followers that he is safe.
