A convoy carrying Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav was involved in a car accident in Vaishali district, Bihar, on Saturday morning. A speeding truck collided with two vehicles within the convoy near Goraul, while en route back to Patna from a political event in Madhepura.
The convoy had halted for a short break on the Patna-Muzaffarpur highway at approximately 12:30 AM. Tejashwi Yadav was a few meters away, taking a tea break, when the truck rammed into the parked security vehicles. His personal vehicle was fortunately not involved, and he remained safe.
The collision caused injuries to three security personnel, who were immediately transported to a nearby hospital. Tejashwi Yadav later visited the injured officials to check on their well-being. Although the officials sustained serious bruises and minor fractures, their condition is now stable.
The local police arrested the truck driver at the accident site and impounded the truck. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident. Preliminary reports suggest that the driver may have lost control due to speeding or fatigue, but the exact reason is still under investigation.
The incident has heightened concerns about the safety of political figures traveling long distances on Bihar roads, particularly late at night. RJD members took to social media, expressing gratitude for Yadav’s safety and demanding better road safety measures and stricter traffic rule enforcement.
Party leaders have urged for a comprehensive review of VIP security protocols, particularly for road travel under challenging conditions like poor visibility.
Tejashwi Yadav, who is known for his busy political life and frequent travel, has resumed his routine and reassured his followers of his safety.
