Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has made a major announcement regarding the domicile policy, directing the Education Department to amend rules to prioritize Bihar residents in teacher recruitment. This policy will be effective from TRE-4. Following this announcement, Tejashwi Yadav, RJD leader and Leader of the Opposition, responded with criticism. Yadav questioned how the Chief Minister felt about the government’s imitation of the opposition’s announcements.
On the social media platform X, Yadav expressed his pleasure, noting that the NDA government, which had previously rejected the idea of a domicile policy and vowed not to implement it, is now adopting the policy, mirroring other opposition initiatives.
Yadav’s post asserted that the 20-year-old NDA government lacks its own policies, vision, and foresight. He suggested that Bihar residents are pleased to see a government, which has struggled to determine its course for two decades, now acting upon the opposition’s suggestions and demands.
He highlighted the government’s adoption of opposition proposals, including social security pensions, free electricity, government jobs, increased honoraria for various workers, the establishment of a youth commission, and the promise of one crore jobs. Yadav suggested that the government’s fear of the opposition is beneficial.
Chief Minister Kumar stated that since the government’s formation in November 2005, they have been working to improve the education system. A large number of teachers have been appointed. The Education Department is instructed to amend rules to prioritize Bihar residents in teacher recruitment.
The CM announced that this policy would be implemented from TRE-4. TRE-4 will be held in 2025, and TRE-5 in 2026. STET will be conducted before TRE-5.
