The 8th Bihar Student Parliament convened at Anugrah Narayan College in Patna, the capital of Bihar. The event saw the participation of Minister Nitin Naveen of the Bihar government as the chief guest, responding to an invitation from organizer Ankit Kumar. Distinguished guests included Maulana Kalbe Rushaid Rizvi, Ratnesh Kushwaha, Rahul Jha, IPS Vikas Vaibhav, Varun Kumar, advocate Kumar Shanu, and numerous young talents from across the state.
IPS Vikas Vaibhav, while addressing the gathering, asserted that the development of Bihar is crucial for India’s overall progress. He emphasized that achieving a developed India by 2047 hinges on Bihar’s development. He believes that Bihar’s strength lies in ensuring that its youth find educational and employment opportunities within the state, eliminating the need to seek them elsewhere.
**Per Capita Income in Bihar Reaches ₹76,490 Annually**
Citing recent data from the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India, it was highlighted that Bihar is experiencing significant growth. The state’s growth rate stands at 8.64 percent at constant prices and 13.09 percent at current prices, ranking second nationally. The per capita income has increased from ₹68,624 in 2023-24 to ₹76,490 in 2024-25.
**Bihar Lags in Monthly Per Capita Income**
IPS Vikas Vaibhav also pointed out that Bihar’s average monthly per capita income of ₹6,374 falls far below the national average. In contrast, Delhi’s figure is ₹46,060, Telangana’s is ₹35,644, and Karnataka’s is ₹35,154. Even compared to neighboring states such as Jharkhand (₹10,687) and Uttar Pradesh (₹10,353), Bihar’s income is notably lower.
**Projected Per Capita Income by 2030: ₹12,820**
Vaibhav cautioned that even with a 15 percent growth rate, Bihar’s per capita income would only be approximately ₹12,820 in 2030 and about ₹25,786 in 2035, still lower than many other states. Discussions also touched upon the impact of caste and community-based politics and social divisions on development.
