The Agricultural University, Sabour, has been awarded an A grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), a landmark achievement for both the university and the state of Bihar, as announced by Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha. This recognition highlights Bihar’s advancement in higher education, research, and innovation.
Sinha credited the success to the university’s dedication, hard work, and collective efforts. The collaborative environment created by the faculty, scientists, staff, students, and farmers has been instrumental in achieving this prestigious status. This success demonstrates the Bihar government’s commitment to education and agriculture on a national level, placing the university among the top institutions in Bihar and the leading NAAC-accredited agricultural universities in India.
The NAAC peer team conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the university from May 28 to May 30, examining academic, administrative, infrastructural, research, and extension aspects. This accreditation signifies the university’s commitment to higher education, research, innovation, and national progress. In just 15 years, the university has achieved a 3.08 CGPA, marking a strong national presence. This achievement reflects the university’s continuous focus on academic quality, inclusive development, research advancements, and administrative transparency.
According to the Minister, the grading aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, reflecting the university’s strategic approach. The effective implementation of the Bihar Agricultural Roadmap and strong state leadership have contributed to this accomplishment. The university has redesigned its curriculum to be multidisciplinary, skill-based, and innovation-focused, in accordance with NEP 2020. The NAAC team commended the curriculum design, highlighting outcome-based education, experiential learning, and industry-academic partnerships.
Students can choose interdisciplinary and optional courses, participate in research from the outset, and benefit from credit transfer, aligning with NEP’s student-centric and holistic development approach. The strong feedback mechanism, which incorporates input from students, alumni, teachers, employers, and other stakeholders, is also a key feature of the university.
The Deputy Chief Minister expressed his congratulations to the university and encouraged them to build on this achievement, aiming to make Bihar a leader in knowledge, science, and agricultural innovation.
