In Bihar, Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Rights Yatra’ is underway, aimed at protesting the SIR process. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy joined the yatra on August 26th, the day of Hartalika Teej. Priyanka will be participating in the yatra for two days. She is also expected to join the yatra in Sitamarhi on Ganesh Chaturthi. There is a plan for Rahul and Priyanka to visit the Janaki Temple, but security and administrative approvals are needed before a final decision can be made.
The voter rights yatra of the Mahagathbandhan continued from Supaul to Madhubani after a break. Priyanka Gandhi was seen with Rahul and Tejashwi. It was Priyanka’s first time joining the yatra, and she greeted the public. A large crowd gathered to see her.
Priyanka’s choice of days and locations has been strategic. Her first day was Hartalika Teej, a significant festival for women in Bihar. Women were seen along the route with puja thalis. Priyanka interacted with women at a camp.
The second day of the yatra is Ganesh Chaturthi, and the yatra will enter Sitamarhi, the land of Mother Janaki. Congress strategists are trying to arrange a visit to the Janaki Temple for Rahul, Priyanka, and Tejashwi. According to Alka Lamba, Priyanka chose a time that celebrates women and is also engaging with the women of Bihar, planning to visit the Janaki Temple.
Sources say Rahul and Priyanka want to visit the Janaki Temple. Strategists are working to finalize security and route plans, but a temple visit is not confirmed yet.
The BJP criticized the Gandhi family for not visiting the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The Congress responded by stating that the Shankaracharyas had questioned the incomplete temple consecration. The Congress argued that the Ram Temple event was a BJP publicity stunt and also mentioned that Rajiv Gandhi had opened the Ram Temple.
