During a meeting with women in Bihar, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi launched a scathing critique against both the central and state governments. Her comments focused on the NDA government’s recent Mahila Rozgar Yojana, which distributed 10,000 rupees to women in Bihar ahead of the assembly elections. Gandhi questioned whether this sum truly reflects the value of their lives.
Gandhi emphasized the individual struggles women face and called on them to transform these struggles into strength. She pledged that her party would work to uphold their dignity, promising 25 lakh rupees in insurance for women in Bihar. She highlighted that women bear the weight of the entire society.
Gandhi urged women to recognize their inherent power, noting that political parties are now aware of their importance, leading to pre-election financial distributions. She advised women to acknowledge their self-respect and to send a clear message to those offering 10,000 rupees, suggesting the current Bihar government does not respect them.
She underscored the need for a new government that can provide justice and dignity. Praising Rahul Gandhi’s efforts, she noted his dedication to social justice to improve the lives of women. She appealed to the women to understand the current political situation, and vote out the incumbent government to bring in a new one focused on justice and respect.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana before the Bihar elections. Through this scheme, 10,000 rupees were directly transferred to the bank accounts of 75 lakh women in Bihar, costing the state exchequer 7500 crore rupees. The Congress party has accused the NDA of attempting to influence voters and undervaluing women’s dignity.
