With the Bihar elections on the horizon, political rhetoric is intensifying, with parties making ambitious claims about their prospects. Prashant Kishor, the driving force behind the Jan Suraaj Party, has declared his party’s intention to revolutionize Bihar’s political system, regardless of the path – whether through direct governance or a long-term campaign. Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Kishor presented his perspective on the upcoming elections. He framed the situation as a high-stakes game for Jan Suraaj, with outcomes ranging from significant electoral gains to extended periods of groundwork. He noted that the party could either secure a minimal number of seats, leading to a prolonged struggle, or achieve a decisive victory, enabling them to reshape Bihar’s governance. Kishor stated that change in Bihar is inevitable.
Kishor also took aim at Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, suggesting a major shift in the state’s leadership after the November elections. He implied that Kumar would not retain his position. Kishor believes that irrespective of who becomes the new Chief Minister, change is coming for Bihar.
Further, Kishor emphasized the need for a government that prioritizes the public, not just the leaders. He implored voters to consider issues such as employment and children’s education when casting their ballots.
During the same address, Kishor criticized both the NDA and INDIA alliances, noting the contrasting stances these groups have adopted towards Jan Suraaj. He highlighted how the BJP initially associated his party with the INDIA alliance but now views them as aligned with the NDA. Kishor suggested that this indicates that both alliances are worried about the increasing influence of the Jan Suraaj Party.
