The city of Patna is reeling from the murder of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Rajkumar Rai, who was fatally shot on Wednesday night. The attack took place at approximately 10 PM in front of Rajendra Nagar Terminal. Police have confirmed the presence of the suspects in CCTV footage and are examining all possible motives. Rai was a prominent political figure and also involved in property transactions. Despite his attempt to find safety in a nearby shop after being shot, he died while being transported to the hospital.
Patna East SP Parichay Kumar said, “A person was shot in lane number seventeen in front of Rajendra Nagar Terminal. His name is being told as Rajkumar alias Ala Rai. Accused seen in CCTV footage. There may be other culprits as well. It is being told that this person was politically active and he also used to buy and sell land. So we are investigating every angle. Our entire police team is engaged in investigating this incident. This incident happened around 10 PM.”
Reports indicate that Rai was attacked by criminals who opened fire as he approached his house. Rai entered a nearby hotel seeking shelter, but the attackers pursued him and continued shooting. One bullet hit the hotel’s refrigerator, breaking the glass. Police responded rapidly, rushing Rai to PMCH, where he was declared deceased. Six spent cartridges were found at the crime scene.
