The Patna district administration has sent a fresh letter to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav concerning his voter ID card. The administration stated that Yadav has yet to submit his second voter ID for investigation, which he mentioned during a press conference. The district administration had previously requested Yadav’s second ID card on August 2. However, Yadav has not submitted it to date. The Election Commission has preliminarily found the second voter ID card to be invalid.
The Election Commission has urged all political parties and voters to participate in creating a clean voter list by filing claims and objections. The commission is dedicated to conducting fair elections and considers removing ineligible voters and including eligible ones as the primary goal of the SVEEP campaign.
Tejashwi Yadav’s valid EPIC number is RAB0456228, while the number RAB2916120 he shared during a press conference has no record. Consequently, the Election Commission has issued a notice to Yadav, seeking original copies of his voter ID cards. This issue has created political tension in the state before the assembly elections.
The controversy arose when Tejashwi Yadav claimed that his name was missing from the draft voter list. He shared the EPIC number RAB2916120, which showed no record found upon searching. Subsequently, the Election Commission confirmed that his name was present in the draft voter list.
The Election Commission stated that Tejashwi Yadav’s name is associated with EPIC number RAB0456228 (Patliputra constituency, polling station 204, serial number 416), which he used in the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections. His second EPIC number is not in the records and might be fraudulent.
The Election Commission is investigating the matter and has sent another notice to Tejashwi Yadav, requesting clarification on the RAB2916120 number. However, he has not yet responded. Previously, Yadav described it as a political conspiracy, claiming his EPIC number was altered.
