Patna, the capital of Bihar, is witnessing the effects of a bandh declared by the NDA. BJP activists initiated the bandh by setting fires at the Pachim Darwaza Morh in Patna. Protesters, holding placards, are demonstrating against the use of offensive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother during an event. The bandh is scheduled for five hours, from 7 AM to 12 PM. Essential services, including hospitals, ambulances, and railway services, are exempt.
BJP workers protested in Danapur during the bandh, setting tires ablaze on roads, and staging demonstrations. Women were also involved in the protests.
BJP leaders have voiced their condemnation of the INDIA alliance. BJP Bihar President Dilip Jaiswal criticized the INDIA alliance for the remarks against PM Modi’s mother and demanded apologies from Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav. BJP leader Sanjay Mayukh highlighted the participation of women in the bandh. BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad called the remarks shameful and urged Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav to apologize for the incident.
The bandh affects schools, colleges, and coaching centers, in addition to intercity bus services, government institutions, and private businesses. Petrol pumps, medical facilities, and essential shops will remain open, and railway services will operate.
