A bizarre event unfolded in Bhagalpur: a BJP MLA, finding himself caught in a traffic jam, resorted to hitching a ride on a motorcycle. The MLA hopped onto the bike, joining two other passengers, and they rode without helmets. The road they traversed was severely damaged, full of potholes. The motorcycle rider, providing the lift to the MLA, seized the opportunity to question him about the poor road conditions. The MLA then found himself caught not only in the traffic jam but also grappling with questions about the state of the road.
Bihar’s political landscape often highlights the sentiment: focus on politics, not just infrastructure! And Pawan Yadav, the BJP MLA from Kahalgaon, seemed to embody this. The NH 80 in Bhagalpur, particularly the Lailakh area, is notorious for its pothole-ridden roads, with the erosion from the Ganges River constantly eating away at the pathways. Although repair work is in progress, the speed of the work doesn’t match the promises made during election campaigns.
BJP MLA Pawan Yadav from Bhagalpur’s Kahalgaon experienced a rather unusual situation. The MLA, who had campaigned promising to improve the very road he was now stranded on, was stuck in a traffic jam on that same road. He needed to attend court. So, he flagged down a motorcycle and requested a lift. Two individuals were already on the motorcycle. MLA Pawan Yadav joined them. Without a helmet, the MLA rode on the motorcycle as a triple passenger. This then led to an exchange that left the MLA somewhat perplexed.
A video was recorded by the passenger in the middle, and the motorcycle rider directly questioned the MLA about the poor road conditions. The rider inquired, ‘MLA ji, even with a double-engine government, the road hasn’t been built yet?’ The rider further mentioned that the MLA had important work, needing to go to court, but they were stuck in a jam. In response, MLA Pawan Yadav deflected the blame onto the contractor. The authenticity of this video remains unconfirmed by official channels.
MLA Pawan Yadav’s response to the question was: ‘We’ve been telling the contractor for two years to build the bridges and culverts first, and to complete the road work quickly. If he had followed our instructions, we wouldn’t be in this situation today.’ The video of MLA Pawan Yadav is rapidly circulating. The entire episode happened on NH 80, which connects Bhagalpur to Kahalgaon and Jharkhand. While construction is underway, the pace of the work is slow, resulting in frequent traffic congestion and significant inconvenience for commuters. Jams can extend up to 30 kilometers, leading to considerable delays for the public.
