A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Paliganj, near Patna, where three siblings lost their lives after drinking milk during their visit to their maternal grandparents’ house for Raksha Bandhan. The event took place in Khiri Par village, under the jurisdiction of Khirimor police station. The children, accompanied by their mother, fell ill on the night of the festival, prompting their family to rush them to a private hospital in Paliganj.
Medical professionals, recognizing the severity of their condition, referred the children to Arwal Sadar Hospital for further treatment. Sadly, two of the siblings succumbed to their illness while receiving care at the hospital. The third child, despite efforts to save her, passed away on Tuesday evening while undergoing treatment in Patna. The victims were all siblings.
The children’s maternal grandfather, Kamlesh Thakur, a resident of Khiripar village, hosted the family gathering for Raksha Bandhan. On Monday evening, the family had dinner, and the children were given milk. Shortly after consuming the milk, the children’s health rapidly declined. Concerned family members immediately sought medical attention, taking the children to a private hospital nearby.
The hospital then referred the children to Arwal Sadar Hospital. Sadly, two of the children died while being treated there. The third child, Nidhi Kumari, passed away on Tuesday evening after being moved to Patna for advanced care. Kamlesh Thakur, the children’s maternal grandfather, said the children’s health rapidly deteriorated after drinking the milk. 5-year-old Vikas Kumar and 3-year-old Mohit Kumar died in the hospital.
Nidhi Kumari’s condition was critical. She was moved to PMCH for more specialized care, where she eventually died. The milk was reportedly sourced from the home of Rambabu Mahto, a resident of Khiri Par village in Paliganj. The Food Safety Department is expected to investigate the incident.
The deceased children were the children of Mohan Thakur, who is employed in Surat. The family had been preparing for the wedding of Ritesh Thakur, Mohan’s brother-in-law, but instead, the house is now mourning the tragic loss.
