A groom from Madhya Pradesh was defrauded in Sasaram, Bihar, when the bride he was to marry, along with her supposed family, made off with a significant amount of money and valuables. The groom, a resident of Gwalior, had arranged the marriage through a broker, agreeing to pay ₹2.5 lakhs. Instead of a wedding, he was left with a missing bride and a missing fortune.
The victim, Monu Raj Shivhare from Morena, had come to marry a woman named Kajal Kumari. The ceremony was conducted by a bogus priest at a Dharamshala in Sasaram. After the ceremony, the bride, along with her fake relatives, vanished with the cash and gifts. The police have detained one of the suspects for questioning as they investigate the elaborate scheme.
