A man in Patna, Bihar, was arrested for impersonating an IPS officer and extorting money from people. The arrest was made by the Phulwari Sharif police, and the individual has been identified as Asrar Ahmed. He was apprehended after police received confidential information and conducted a raid. Ahmed would falsely claim to be an ADG-rank officer to deceive his victims.
Ahmed asserted that he was posted at the police headquarters. He also involved himself in land disputes, issuing threats to individuals. A case has been registered against him on multiple serious charges. According to police officials, Ahmed used mobile and email communications to carry out his fraudulent activities.
Reports indicate that Ahmed defrauded more than six people. Among his victims was a government employee. Posing as an ADG-rank officer, he would threaten people and demand money.
Police are currently investigating Ahmed’s network. Following interrogation, he was remanded to judicial custody. The police are actively working to identify additional victims and are conducting a detailed investigation into the matter.
