The Mahagathbandhan coalition convened a meeting on Sunday at Tejashwi Yadav’s residence to determine the allocation of seats for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Representatives from the constituent parties confirmed that the seat-sharing agreement has been finalized. Details of the agreement will be released in a press conference within the next two days.

The completion of the SIR for voter lists in Bihar and the meeting between the Chief Election Commissioner and political party representatives signal that the Election Commission will soon announce the election schedule. In response, all political parties have intensified their negotiations regarding seat distribution.
The meeting at Tejashwi Yadav’s residence was focused on finalizing the seat-sharing arrangement. Although the specifics of which party will contest how many seats remain undisclosed, sources suggest a final decision was reached.
Alok Mehta, the RJD’s National General Secretary, mentioned that most issues had been discussed. While some matters still need resolution, he expected all to be settled in two days, with a press conference to follow. Earlier, Rajesh Kumar and Krishna Allavaru indicated that ‘seat sharing’ and the selection of ‘potential candidates’ were focal points of the meeting.
During the 2020 Assembly elections, the RJD contested 144 seats, securing 75 victories. The Congress’s performance was weaker, winning only 19 out of 70 contested seats. The Left parties had a strong showing, with CPI-ML winning 12 out of 19, CPM winning 2 out of 4, and CPI winning 2 out of 6 seats. This time, the opposition alliance includes the Vikassheel Insaan Party, JMM, and the faction of LJP led by Pashupati Paras.
