Lalu Prasad Yadav, the former Chief Minister of Bihar and RJD president, has voiced grave concerns about the current state of the nation, claiming it is worse than the Emergency period. He made these comments in the context of the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra,’ a campaign led by Rahul Gandhi of the Congress party, which is focused on the revision of voter lists and allegations of vote manipulation. Yadav reiterated his dedication to safeguarding democracy, stating his party’s history of sacrifices to defend democratic principles, which he pledged to continue. His son, Tejashwi Yadav, was present at the event as well.
Tejashwi Yadav also addressed the situation, accusing the BJP of abusing constitutional bodies. He stated their commitment to protect the right of citizens to vote. The ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra,’ set to start on August 17th, will span 16 days, covering a distance of about 1300 kilometers. It will allow interaction with citizens across more than 20 districts, with the concluding event at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on September 1st.
