A bride from Bihar caused a scandal in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. After receiving money for the marriage, she locked her groom in their room. She then attempted to escape by jumping from the balcony, resulting in fractures in both legs. This incident led to the exposure of a larger marriage fraud scheme, as revealed in the hospital.
The victim, Bharat, reported the incident to the Banar police station. He alleged that the 23-year-old bride, Suman, was involved in a fraudulent marriage, along with five other individuals.
Bharat explained in his report that he was struggling to find a suitable match. Nandkishore Soni, a contact of his father, proposed a marriage with a woman from Bihar on June 27. Two acquaintances, Sandeep Sharma and Ravi, introduced two girls, Suman and Ruby Pandey. Bharat selected Suman and was informed that he needed to pay 300,000 rupees to cover the expenses.
Bharat paid 170,000 rupees in cash and 130,000 rupees through online transfer. The wedding was solemnized at an Arya Samaj temple. Two days later, he learned Suman was a ‘looteri dulhan.’ A quarrel ensued, and Suman locked him in the room. She then created a rope from her saree and jumped from the balcony, breaking her legs. Ravi and Sandeep were waiting outside to help her, but Bharat’s cries alerted his family, who caught Suman, while the other two escaped.
Even in the hospital, Suman tried to deceive authorities by altering her father’s name. Investigations revealed she was already married and had submitted false documents during the wedding. This unveiled the gang’s activities. Suman Pandey is from Aurangabad, Bihar; Sandeep Sharma is from Kaushambi, UP; Ravi and Ruby Devi are from Dalmia Nagar, Rohtas, Bihar; and Nand Kishore Soni and Jitendra Soni are from Jodhpur. The search for the other suspects continues.
