The Indian Railways is gearing up to launch the Vande Bharat Sleeper Express train, a new service catering to passengers traveling to Bihar during Diwali and Chhath. The train is expected to begin operations between Delhi and Patna by the end of September. Plans are in place to extend the route to Darbhanga or Sitamarhi, serving passengers in North Bihar. The new train is a welcome development for the many people traveling to Bihar for Diwali and Chhath, when trains are typically crowded. The Vande Bharat Sleeper train will be a significant improvement, offering a comfortable and time-saving travel experience. The train will be capable of reaching speeds of 160 kilometers per hour. It will have driver cabs at both ends, eliminating the need for engine changes at stations. The train will also feature advanced safety and comfort measures, including the Kavach anti-collision system, crashworthy coach design, and European-level fire safety technology. CCTV cameras will be installed in every coach for continuous monitoring. The interior of the train will be designed for comfort, with features such as glass fiber panels, soft lighting, and comfortable berths. New designs for the upper berths will simplify access, and automatic sensor doors will be used. Touch-free bio-digester toilets will also be available. The Ministry of Railways views the Vande Bharat Sleeper trains as a vital part of India’s railway modernization, aiming to make long-distance journeys faster, safer, and more pleasant.
