A novel sentence has been handed down by Principal Magistrate Nilesh Bhardwaj of the Juvenile Justice Board in Gopalganj, Bihar, to a juvenile involved in liquor smuggling. The offender has been mandated to engage in community service. The order stipulates that the teenager will perform traffic duties for a duration of 30 days to facilitate the improvement of his behavior. The incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Jadopur police station. Law enforcement officials from Jadopur police station apprehended the teenager on January 9, 2025, seizing 81 liters of liquor. A formal complaint was filed against the minor and three additional individuals at the police station. During the judicial proceedings, the board considered submissions from both parties. The accused teenager, accompanied by his father, was present. When questioned, the teenager confessed to his involvement in the offense without coercion. Consequently, the Principal Magistrate of the board issued an order requiring the juvenile to render service to the traffic police. The teenager will be under the supervision of the traffic police in-charge for a period of 30 days. A formal request for authorization will be submitted to the Superintendent of Police. Following the 30-day period, a comprehensive report regarding the service rendered will be presented to the board. This process is intended to afford the teenager an opportunity to rehabilitate and make a positive contribution to the community, thereby benefiting his future prospects. During the court hearing, the teenager expressed his desire for leniency and the chance to reform, stating his intention to reintegrate into society. Subsequently, the Principal Magistrate, Nilesh Bhardwaj, directed the accused teenager to undertake community service.
