Across the nation, the burning of Ravana’s effigy marked Dussehra. Celebrations took place in various cities, including Delhi, Patna, and Jammu, with substantial participation. President Droupadi Murmu participated in Delhi’s Vijayadashami festivities, organized by the Shri Dharmic Leela Committee, and symbolically ignited the Ravana effigy. Despite persistent rainfall in Delhi, a palpable sense of excitement surrounded the Dussehra celebrations. Crowds gathered at the venues, with people embracing the festivities with umbrellas and rain gear.
President Murmu commented, “Humanity thrives on the triumph of good. It is essential to eliminate the demon of terrorism when it threatens mankind. ‘Operation Sindoor,’ executed by the Indian Army, represents the victory of humanity over the Ravana of terrorism. We are grateful to every soldier defending India and offer our salutations.”
Sonia Gandhi also attended Ramlila at the Parade Ground.
Multiple Ravana Dahan events were scheduled across Delhi. Prominent figures like Prime Minister Modi, President Murmu, and former Congress President Sonia Gandhi were in attendance. The Nav Shri Dharmic Ramlila Committee’s event at the Red Fort’s Parade Ground featured a 50-foot Ravana effigy and 45-foot effigies of Meghnad and Kumbhakaran. Sonia Gandhi graced the Ramlila to witness the burning of Ravana.
