A dramatic scene between a husband and wife at a court in Sitamarhi, Bihar, has become a sensation on social media. The couple was in court for divorce proceedings when a heated argument broke out. Hundreds of people witnessed the intense exchange. The husband had initiated the divorce case in the Sitamarhi court, seeking to end the marriage.
The reason for the divorce request is that the wife had left her husband to marry her lover. Both were present for the court hearing in Sitamarhi. Despite the husband’s efforts to reason with her, the wife remained fixated on her new relationship. She directed insults at her husband, with the husband alleging that she had married a Muslim man, a fact he openly declared.
During the court dispute, the husband revealed that his three-year-old child was with his in-laws and that he wanted custody. His wife had married a man of a different faith. While others in the court were critical of the wife’s actions, she appeared unaffected, instead directing her anger towards her husband. When he attempted to hold her hand, her anger intensified.
Enraged, the wife turned on the onlookers, accusing them of being shameless. She pointed out that her husband was holding her hand and everyone was witnessing it. The husband let go of her hand, and she continued to hurl insults as she moved away. She repeatedly questioned why her husband was causing a commotion in the court given the ongoing legal proceedings. The husband also spoke to the media.
The husband stated he resides in Padumker village, East Champaran. His wife’s parents support her in this situation. He has a three-year-old son who is with his maternal grandparents. He wishes to divorce his wife and retain custody of his son. A village council had convened at his in-laws’ residence, located in Nunoura village under the Mahindwara police station. The council had requested his father-in-law to return his son.
Subsequently, his father-in-law left the house with their son. The wife has been living with her lover for a year and they have a daughter together.
