In a close call, RJD leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav escaped injury in a road accident on Saturday morning. A truck collided with two vehicles in his convoy near Goraul in Vaishali district while he was en route to Patna after a political rally in Madhepura.
The convoy had paused for a short break along the Patna-Muzaffarpur highway at approximately 12:30 AM for tea. As Tejashwi Yadav was a few feet away, enjoying his tea, a truck veered into the stationary vehicles carrying his security detail. Thankfully, his personal vehicle was not involved, and he was unharmed.
The impact of the collision caused injuries to three security officials, who were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital. Tejashwi Yadav later visited the injured officials, checking on their welfare and expressing his concern. Although they sustained significant bruising and minor fractures, the three officials are now reported to be in stable condition.
The local police promptly arrested the truck driver at the scene and impounded the truck. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident. While some reports suggest potential contributing factors such as excessive speed or driver drowsiness, the authorities are conducting a thorough examination.
The incident has brought attention to the safety challenges faced by political figures traveling long distances on Bihar’s roads, especially during nighttime hours. RJD members and supporters took to social media to express relief at Yadav’s safety, while also calling for enhanced road safety measures and stricter traffic rule enforcement.
Party officials have advocated for a thorough review of security protocols for VIP convoys on the roads, especially during times of low visibility or potential road hazards.
Tejashwi Yadav, known for his active political schedule and extensive travel across Bihar, has resumed his normal routine, assuring his followers of his safety and well-being.
