The upcoming 2025 Assembly elections in Bihar have ignited a fresh wave of political accusations. The focus is on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, with allegations of errors including the inclusion of deceased individuals and the exclusion of living voters. Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD’s Chief Ministerial candidate, has brought forth a claim that his name is absent from the Election Commission’s draft voter list. He mentioned filling out the enumeration form during the special revision of electoral rolls in Bihar. This raises questions about his ability to participate in the election. The Janata Dal (United) responded, accusing Tejashwi of spreading misinformation. At a press conference, Tejashwi expressed his concerns about the missing voter information, including his EPIC number not showing up in the system. The Patna district administration, however, quickly countered, confirming Yadav’s registration but noting a change in his polling station and serial number. Yadav responded, questioning the widespread nature of these changes and suggesting a deliberate effort to remove voters. The Election Commission has dismissed his statement as ‘false and factually incorrect,’ highlighting his presence in the draft electoral roll. JDU’s chief spokesperson, Neeraj Kumar, labeled Tejashwi a ‘political fraud.’ The SIR process, designed to verify voter information, is underway with a deadline for objections set for September 1, 2025.
